Leaky vision clearomizer?
« on: May 02, 2012, 10:22:18 pm »
The Vision Ego clearomiser does deliver a great vape and hit, but every now and again I have to unscrew the clearo from battery to 'mop up' the leak on the battery connection.
Is this to be expected or am I mis-using in some way? :-\

It's possible that the little rubber bung over the wicks has risen up and juice is flowing through the gap a little. Try pushing it down gently with something blunt so that it is seated correctly.

I had one that split (One of the first that I had and before I understood how it was put together ;D) and it leaked into my mouth also when tipping to draw - it's the only one that I have had to throw away so far though and now I am just more careful when cleaning etc.

Maybe I haven't been screwing the clearo down as tightly as should? Did find vid on YouTube where vapor deconstructs 2nd generation clearo with narrow steel dowl!
I am sticking with the clearo as very little burn taste and lots of juice favour.

Thanks for the tip and great support. :)

You shouldn't have to tighten it too much - just enough to secure it and for the connection to be made. The visions don't leak at the bottom unless liquid is somehow getting into the middle tube so hopefully it is just that the bung needs pushing down a touch.

I love the Visions and have a boat load of them ;D

Frapp...  you definitely shouldn't over tighten any 'misers...  this can damage them and/or the connector on your e-cig...

have you still got the little rubber washer on the tip?.

i found (after a bit of chaos) on my very first one that it was missing or id lost it etc and id inadvertantly screwed tip in to far/too tight and had damaged the inner cap, this led to mouthful of "surprise" and i also noticed the battery was wet when i unscrewed it all.

mind first time i didnt know to screw tip in either heh, just pushed it in like boges, that was a surprise....
no probs at all with others now i know to keep eye out for washer on tip.

It looks as though it's just the one clearomizer... all others working fine with no leaks.

Any tips about cleaning them? I guess just a rinse out and dry? I believe they're quite tricky to dismantle ???

ive been using just off the boil, hot water and syringing down into tank etc n flushing out n then up thru the inner tube couple of times, then blowing thru it n then  quick 5 second dry burns until noise is just a clean hiss.
have then been wacking juice straight in,leaving fer a while to soak n sorted.

I have just been using demonised water to rinse out, then pulling the c
Rubber cap up to rinse inside a bit and the same, flick out, dry burn a couple of times and then refill and go. I might try hot water off the boil though as it may be more effective shifting some of the stronger flavours and do a better job overall....

Filling a syringe with vodka and squirting it down over the coil as well as the water flush method has been giving me some good results so far.

Well, I've tried everything save taking it apart!

I ordered 2 clearomisers: one is fantastic so am convinced of their quality. I'm putting the leaky one down to bad luck... Turkeys happen.

The juice is collecting around the coil and dripping down the inner tube onto the battery contact! Not sure why, but I can't stop it happening ???

Will get some more tho'. :)

I wonder whether the hot weather is also a factor? My VVNs which are normally impeccably behaved started leaking when we were away camping. I think they were over-wicking due to the heat making the juice thinner. I've cleaned them since getting home and they seem fine again

The Boges are still my "out and about" option, but the VVNs work a treat on the Provari mini for a relaxed evening vape, especially when sitting enjoying a nice sunset  ;)

Puff Diddy with XXLs, KM with XXLs or standard in the smaller format and standard size in Arry  ;)

Some juices seem to suit the VVNs a little bit better than the Boge tank options.

Ah, I was gonna offer to send you a punched Boge but should have known you'd have some nice tanks on the go...  :)

I've been using the Vision eGo Clearomizer for a few months, and I was very happy with it. It's a well-made piece of kit, and looks great on top of a large eGo battery. Unfortunately the latest batch is a new version with longer wicks, they do seem to have developed a major leakage problem. Liquid is getting into the centre tube and leaking down onto the battery connection and into the air inlets at the bottom. I just bought three new ones; one was DOA and the other two leak so badly as to be pretty much unusable. As far as I can tell the problem lies in the new wick. It seems to be thinner than the old shorter wick, and allows liquid to leak into the centre tube. I've tried pushing the latex cap down with the tip of a screwdriver but it hasn't helped. This is very disappointing, since it's ruined what was arguably the best clearomiser on the market. I hope the manufacturers can solve this problem, because until they do I will not be using them.

I'll take you up on that argument, I would say they are the worst, it tastes of plastic, has poor quality issues, inconsistent draw, turns your liquid black unless you clean it after every fill, states the capacity to be 1.6ml but if you try to put that much in it leaks badly, 1.2ml is more accurate and I have never seen another 'miser of any type with so many issues.
